It’s been MONTHS since I got out and ran but I’m going right NOW!
This really shows the true spirit of the Olympic games. Turkish runner Merve Aydin injured herself during an 800m heat, but still carried on a whole lap visibly in excruciating pain before limping over the finish line and falling to the floor in tears to the cheers of 80,000 fans in the Olympic stadium. Not a good run for me. I ate a really big meal before and didn’t have enough water. I had side cramps. Eek!

I just ran my mile in 10:35. Yes yes yes!! My goal today was to run the entire mile, but I did end up walking for about 1/10th of it. I already reached my goal of getting under 11 minutes. Once I am able to run the entire mile without stopping (maybe next time) I’m going to bump it up to either 1.25 or 1.5 miles. Any thoughts on this?
Worried about my run. I’m not sure why my body aches…maybe from being tired. I slept in until 8ish today, which is very late for me. Although I was up for an hour in the night. I plan to finish my bottle of water, stretch, do a warm up, then try to get under 12:38 (I think that was my fastest time so far). Wish me luck!
1. Life is so fragile. You just never know when it could be taken away. A tragedy happened in the town where I work. I won’t go into details, but an 18 year old who was about to graduate from high school died in an accident. I just can’t imagine that. Going to a party and then the next thing you know you’re dead. I guess you wouldn’t know it. I can’t wrap my mind around it. All I can do is pray for those involved.
2. It’s such a great compliment to me when someone says, “Wow! I can really tell you’ve lost weight.” Sometimes I get down on myself because I haven’t completely lost 20 pounds yet. But really, losing ALMOST 20 pounds is a great accomplishment. I don’t know what is taking me so long to get below 240, but I am determined to do it.
3. I keep looking up beginning runners’ tips. I have been so focused on running a faster mile that I wasn’t even doing much of a warm up or cool down. Tomorrow (well actually later today I guess) I plan on doing a 3 minute fast walk to warm up and then to cool down. I’m hoping that will help with the leg cramping I’ve been having. They’re really cramping my time (ha, ha).
It cooled down quite a bit before I did my run, thankfully! I am seriously annoyed by the bug that decides to follow me the entire time, every time. What the heck! I didn’t beat my fastest time, but I’ll take 12:58!
